Position Overview
The primary purpose of your job position is: to plan, organize and direct the overall operation of the Activities Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and guidelines that govern our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality programming can be provided to our residents at all times.
All employees are expected to work diligently to support the mission, vision and values of Charles E. Smith Life Communities.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, and evaluate, the activity programs of the facility
- Develop, administer, and coordinate department policies and procedures.
- Develop a well-rounded activity program, which engages residents emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually.
- Perform administrative requirements, such as completing forms, reports and submitting as required.
- Coordinate outings; including use of the facility transportation
- Refer resident/families to the appropriate to department to provide good customer service and to meet the needs of the customer.
- Coordinate activities with other departments
- Submit work service orders to appropriate departments
- Conduct interviews for potential employees
- Provide backup staff in all areas of the job including groups, one to one, special events, trips and luncheons.
- Be prepared to handle emergencies as they come up (rescheduling work assignments, entertainment, and work schedules)
- Lead the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of staff for the activity department
- Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability to other activity staff as deemed necessary to perform their assigned duties and responsibilities
- Review and check competence of activity staff and make necessary adjustments as required or that may become necessary
