Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to examine and treat patients at the Hebrew Home in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Medical Director and to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Delegation of Authority
As Staff Physician, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Complete necessary documentation regarding medical care of residents assigned to you for care
- Respond to inquiries regarding patients and residents from other medical providers.
- Respond to questions or concerns by resident and patient family members in person, by phone or in writing as appropriate.
- Review and sign orders and other appropriate forms for Hebrew Home residents as required.
- Communicate with Nursing staff regularly, even daily as needed regarding resident care.
- Provide supervision and consultation to nurse practitioners caring for residents and patients.
- Provide documentation as required for reimbursement by third party payors of medical services.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies and participate in inquiries related to medical care.
- Communicate with the interdisciplinary team and other medical consultants to facilitate referrals and discuss patient care.
- Fully meet all relevant general and specialty licensure criteria.
- Work with facility staff and administration to achieve survey compliance, both for the annual survey and periodic investigatory surveyor visits or inquiries.
- Serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility as required.
- Attend scheduled and other called department staff meetings to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of services.
- Participate in facility committee work as appropriate or requested.
- Attend and participate in new-hire orientation.
- Attend and participate in continuing medical educational programs to maintain knowledge and skills, as well as to meet ongoing professional licensure requirements.
- Attend and participate in annual inservice training programs.
- Assist in developing, planning, conducting and scheduling of timely inservice training classes.
- Train residents physicians, medical students, and nurse practitioner trainees rotating through Hebrew Home from affiliated educational programs.
- Educating staff and working as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate and promote continuous quality improvement in the delivery of care.
Education Requirements
- Must possess, as a minimum, a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Osteopathy Degree (D.O.) from an accredited college of medicine or osteopathy.
Experience
- Must be knowledgeable of clinical geriatrics and long-term care medical practices.
- Must be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations governing medical and nursing care in long-term care facilities.
